Lavin on ESPN Indy -interview-

Yes some of do care what he has to say, as a matter of fact!

He said he always liked the NIT better than the NCAA anyway

Obekpa elbow was an accident he suffers from involuntary elbow thrusting. George Costanza had same ailment

Hammer to rock

Press gathering today;

@NYPost_Brazille: Steve Lavin on Chris Obekpa: "It's vital you keep your head, demonstrate poise and composure." #sjubb

@NYPost_Brazille: Asked about recruiting, Steve Lavin said his staff works on it 365 days a year. Doesn't think team's success has direct correlation. #sjubb

@NYPost_Brazille: Not sure if Steve Lavin gave us a hint: "Knowing what we do today determines the type of future we have as a basketball team." #sjubb

Can somebody explain to me what Zach means by this:

I guess the last two are up for interpretation. Out of context, it's tough to draw a conclusion. Is this an interview that would be posted on Redstormsports?

NIT innuendo perhaps.

Does anybody really care what he has to say,
Really?

A St. John's fan should care what his coach has to say.

A smart St. John's fan should know that most of the time he says anything, that he's full of shit.
"Rebounding is overrated" "we are going in the right direction" lmfao

I used to get pissed at his quotes, now I just laugh. He's a joke.

I'm not a Lavin basher, but it's the same old crap with him EVERY time. His interviews are well articulated fluff pieces during which he NEVER takes accountability for anything or seems to have a sense of reality of how things are really going. It's pretty infuriating in fact.

Well at least we get the truth on The Red Storm Report.

I won't listen to lavin, but did he really say that? I gotta believe that we are sju was joking, but with Lavin, I really could see him saying some bs line like that.

Couple of other notes, in addition to rebounding, he also claimed passing and scoring were kind of overrated and he also compared Dom Pointer to Red Lobster breaking the world record for nicknames about inanimate objects given to one person.

I just hate how there's never any accountability for anything under Lavin.

For instance, after the obekpa incident, when Lavin gets asked about it, he didn't even talk about CO doing anything. He just went on some BS rant about how the team as a whole must keep their composure. Barely even talked about co.

What he should of said is something like

"Chris lost his composure and made a poor decision in harming a player of the other team. He wishes he had the moment back so he could act in a more mature manner and not take out frustration on opposing players by harming them. It is expected Chris should apologize for the incident and his misbehavior and we will consider allowing him to play next game if he takes those positive steps"

That's what I hate about Lavin. And it rubs off on his players, CO got questioned in the hallway post game and all he had to say for himself was that the other guy pushed him three times. Disgusting

Nice. I, too, would prefer that Chris "own it" a little more.

Just the way he acted during and after the game, the way Dom and him both got fist bumped and patted on the back after their dumb plays that cost us about 10 points all in all, it just speaks to the culture of the program that has been built here by Lavin. And I just don't like it.
