This year's luncheon (September 21 at the YALE Club) features this year's men's and women's national championship coaches

In addition, our own Mel Davis will be accepting an award for his mentor and great friend Solly Walker, who was the first African American to play for St. John's and who paved a path for many other men and women to follow.

It goes without saying that there will be a huge Nova and ND presence at the event.

As loyal supporters of the university as well as the basketball program it's up to all of us to be sure that there is a lot of Red and White in the room, especially for Mel and Solly's family.

It would be great to have many, many tables filled with Redmen.comer's

Thanks in advance for your support and generosity !!

Let's Go Redmen !!!!
Have been told that NYC has informed the Walker family that a street in Brooklyn will be named after Solly.
Awesome!

Fyi......There are only 27 tables available and 10 have already been sold

Would be great to have a huge St. John's presence in the room.

Seats are $150 per person

As always, I appreciate your consideration.

I do know that the athletic department has bought a table, so I assume that members of the basketball staff and other senior officials will be attending.

IMO, this is a big deal for SJU and it would be great to have outsized support from St. John's as well as the fan base.

In addition, I know Mel Davis would greatly appreciate you supporting him as he accepts an award on behalf of the Walker family.

For those not aware, Mel came to St. John's because of Solly.

Mr. Walker was a life long mentor to Mel and many others.
