Lance Stephenson buries the Knicks

Amazing for a guy who was buried on this board to emerge as a gifted pro. In fact he ended the Knicks; season last night.
Back when he almost fell into Roberts lap by default, sycophants on this board wanted no part of this guy regardless if
he could help the team. But when all was said and done Roberts could not even seal the deal on a devalued local recruit. Cincinnati
ended up bailing Stephenson out of his recruiting maze with a late scholarship offer. He lasted one season playing for Mick Cronin before declaring for
the draft, Falling out of the first round and guaranteed money Stephenson was drafted in the 2nd round by Indiana and now
has emerged as a decent pro justifying his PSAL awards and his stature as the all time leading high school scorer in NY State.
Somewhere their has to be a lot of hard work.

We beat his Cincy team at MSG. Real good game. Hardy made some good plays in the last minute to get it done. Lance always had the look of a pro. His shot not much his freshmen year, and he got in some trouble. That dropped him down. I might be off, but I think he got in trouble with Cincy too. Even with his ability, he might be on a short leash.

Lance was buried on these boards?
Nobody of his caliber wanted to play for Norm Roberts.
His year at Cincy was fine nothing spectacular.

Bottom line is the Chosen One needs to become a little more Humble. While he is a good player finally catching on he has the attitude of a Melo but still aways to go.

everyone knew he'd be a pro. he was a man playing with boys in high school. it was our good fortune norm couldn't close the deal...otherwise norm would still be with us.

I am a huge Knicks fan and did not know of Stephenson before this series, the one thing I noticed from this kid honestly is that he is a punk. Like Moose said, hes not good enough to have the attitude he brings to the table.

As a Knicks fan, I wish someone would have put him on his arse after he started going to the hoop as often as he did. That would have made him think twice before he drove teh lane again. There should not be easy layups in the playoffs. Unfortunately, the Knicks never got that memo.

He was built up as a potential #1 pick and a lock for lottery for years. He's playing well right now, but he has a LONG way to go to reach the expectations many people held for him in high school. He averaged 2.5 ppg last year and 8.8 points, 3.9 boards and 1.4 turnovers this year ,so it's not like he's a freaking all-star. He turns 23 this year...Felipe Lopez is considered a huge bust by most of our fanbase and Felipe averaged 9.3 ppg as a 23-year old rookie.

Stephenson is a secondary or tertiary caliber player with a star's attitude.

Felipe played 4 yrs of CB Lance one. Felipe would probably had a longer NBA career as he was playing well until knee injury derailed his career.

Can't figure out why some people here are hating on Lance. The shame of it is that you are judging a young man that you don't even know. I have know Lance and his family since he was in the 6th grade and he has always been respectful towards me. To escape Coney Island, you almost have to have a chip on your shoulder.
I remember watching him as an 8th grader, going against OJ Mayo at ABCD Camp. He showed no fear and held his own. Most elite athletes have an arrogance that sometimes comes off as being to cocky. However, if you do not think that you are better than your opponent, the battle is already lost.
As for the Knick series, Chandler knocked Lance on his ass while blocking an attempted dunk. Lance kept coming back, which is the sign of a true competitor.
Lance will be 23 years old on September 5th. His game has steadily improved and he will continue to get better because of his drive and determination. No less an authority than Larry Bird has stated that Lance has just begun to scratch the surface of his potential. He had to relearn the game because for so long he was able to get by with because he was able to overpower people. He has been one of the Pacers leading rebounders during the playoffs.
Anyone who can't see the progress this young man has made is just stuck on hating, SMH.

I don't hate on Lance. I root against him because he spurned us for Cinci (sour grapes)---although I think getting out of NYC was the right move for him. Same reason why I think it is good that he wasn't drafted by the Knicks. Hometown pressures and influences would have been a problem. His game has flaws but he is young. He seems to be working hard and will continue to improve.

Appreciate your honesty.

IMO Felipe could have come right out of high school and did pretty much what he did as a rookie after four years of college. He was physically ready and he didn't get much better from his frosh to senior years. He probably would have been drafted much higher was well and had the trust and patience high expectations and hype afford younger players. The ceiling lowered on him every single year in college.

Stephenson will never be a star. He is only playing so much now because Granger was out all year. He can't shoot and he won't be a kid that can score 20-25 points on a regular basis in the NBA. He rebounds very well and he does some other stuff well too, but the best he can ever hope for is to be a solid Robin...he'll never be Batman. He is a distant fourth option (after Granger injury) and he is turning 23.

Thing is he is in a perfect situation for his development. Not expected to be a star. Barely played as a rookie. Pacers lose their best player in Grainger, so he gets more minutes. On a team of good not great players. On the Knicks the expectations would've been greater.
