Over Cal Irvine tonight to even their record at 1-1 this season. They lost at UCLA by 15 Friday night.
Tonight they won by 18 and got contributions from all 11 team members. Senior Danejah Grant led the way with 28 , while Junior Jade Walker had 15. Freshman Akilla Whear ( excuse my spelling ) had 11 with a few threes. Redshirt junior center Sandra Odobe had 7 boards.
Big East preseason player of the year Aliyah Handford has yet to hit her stride but had a bunch of assists and steals to do along with her 8 points and has now tied Kia Wright for 5th place on the all time scoring list. If we are to dance again we need a big contribution from Aliyah and she needs to be the player she is capable of being as she is surrounded by good talent. Freshman Jordan Augustus had her first points in an SJU uniform to go along with 6 boards. A very good team effort and congrats on the first win this season and evening out their record.

Was told by the staff this morning that Handford rolled her ankle so they held her out of play in the fourth as a precautionary measure. They were happy with her play.
