kyle o'quinn

good to see a kid from Jamaica Queens having a beast game in the NCAA's. How many other Kyle O'Quinn are out there right under St. John's nose...

He went to high school 10 minutes from the campus. Campus Magnet is the old Andrew Jackson HS. I hate to say it but the previous staff could not identify sleepers within a 4 mile radius of the campus. Now we recruit nationally but did not miss T. Hall at Jeff which is something the previous master recruiter would have done.

Great post game comments by the kid. Said he only got one scholarship offer and thanked the coaching staff for recruiting him. Kid's a breath of fresh air.

I agree wholeheartedly; he handled himself beautifully.

Yes I am glad for him but it is another example of how Norm messed things up

Lets get real. The kid had 1 D1 offer. This board would have crucified Norm for bringing in this kid. Happy he has had such a productive career but lets be real.

But this kid was 6'10 and capable of throwing up double-doubles for three years in college. The tallest player Norm had was Coker at 6'9. If a kid can walk and chew gum at 6'10, he's gotta be on your radar if he's that close to campus. If the kid only had one scholarship offer, at least offer a walkon position.

Just think of what he could have meant to last year's team and to this year's squad

Again, if we took a commitment from a kid who's only other offer was Norfolk St, this board would have rioted. No other way to shake it.

Exactly, Moose! Norm would've been taken behind the woodshed.

He started playing in his junior year of high school. He was a project then. By senior year he averaged double figures and no one came to look at a 6'10 kid that could have been a great practice player at 6'10 at the very least. Every school in the area missed him, not just Norm.

So Norm decided to take heat for smaller players :). Honestly, I feel like fans are willing to cut coaches slack on recruits with that type of size. Everyone realizes that a kid that can do anything resembling a basketball move at that size is rare and valuable.

6'10 raw, that can run and some athleticism in your backyard.. Our program hasn't been getting the Magic Johnson's of the world, so it was a bad miss. Smh...

You know who else missed him?

Jay Wright
Rick Pitino
Jamie Dixon
Jim Calhoun
Jim Boeheim
Bobby Gonzalez
Fred Hill
The entire MAAC
Hofstra
Fordham
The rest of the A10
