Kyle Anderson

Funny thing. Last night I hadna dream that Kyle decommitted from UCLA (wierd?!?!) immediate speculation was that he would then commit to St John's.

Again guys, ONLY A DREAM. But I do have some psychic tendencies at times. :)

The PG this team doesn't have.
Wow, he was a very big miss.

Huh? Nuri can run this team.

Yes he can. He is going to be special. He is a scorer not a shooter. Has great moves and ball control. No one gets to the rim and fnishs better . He has potential to be all big east ,if not this yr next

I see Nuri in the Dwight Hardy role

Hardy was a far superior shooter.

Far would be a huge understatement. They appear light years apart at least as shooters. Although I said that last year between Hatten and Hardy early on and was happy to be proven wrong later in the year. Hope I'm wrong again this year. Either way this team needs shooters badly. Harrison and Nuri both need to improve greatly in that area or it will be a long year.

Man, talk about short term memory loss!!!!

After two games, SOPH Nuri is shooting 13-22 from the field (62%!), albeit 0-4 on 3s (which makes him 13-18 inside the arc - 72%).

After two games last year (St. Mary's and Columbia), SENIOR Dwight was shooting 4 for 20 from the floor (20%), and 0-10 on 3s - which made him 4-10 inside the arc - 40%

Maybe we should allow a little time for things to shake out?.

I used this comparison after the last game with regards to Harrison. Hardy had dreadful first 5 games last year. And how did that turn out.

Nuri's percentages are not what we are talking about, those are all drives and layups. It's whether he has an outside shot. He really hasn't attempted many but looking at the few he has and the free throws, he does not appear to be a very good jump shooter. Does that mean he won't improve and that he can't be an effective player/scorer for us, regardless? Of course not. He just doesn't look like a very good shooter and if we don't have anyone else who can fill that void, it's going to be real tough when we get into conference play and teams start zoning us.

Harrison looks like he could develop into a good shooter but he's not there yet. He is just a freshmen but I just don't see him the same way I viewed someone like Larry Wright when he was a freshmen. Wright came here and from day 1 we all knew he could shoot. Not the case for me looking at Harrison but again it's real early and I did say I hope I'm wrong.

All types of PG's can be effective. I don't think Nuri is. Stocktonesque assist guy at this point, but these kids barely know the offense and haven't even had 10 guys at practice until recently. Nuri has some freakishly god driving ability, speed and ability to get to the rim. He impressed me with his willingness to play press d and move real well. He's fantastic on the break.

Does he need work? Certainly... That's why he's in college and has 3 years of eligibility. He's not pro-ready I certainly agree with, but I didn't necessarily expect him to be all that ready. I like him as a player though. If he gets some work done improving his jumpshot working more reliably, he can be dangerous and defenders wontbe able to back off.

Certaily we could have used an excellent player like Kyle Anderson. That ship has sailed and we need to continue to look for somebody in 2012/13 as an alternative to Nuri. Nuri has been qute good to ts point though and Greene has as well.

Greene has been quite good? He did have a good exhibition game, and it has been said that hed be the biggest surprise this year. However, so far he hasnt been good at all. He hasnt hit any shots (0-6) and has turned the ball over with bad passes when he was playing the point. I know its only 2 games, so we really dont know yet how hell be, but so far he definitely hasnt been quite good.
