Knicks

Such a breathe of fresh air to not have a coach playing guys 40+ minutes in back to backs in November
And yet - the star player is in the game to get himself hurt with under 2 minutes to go in a blowout loss, to a team that played like they cared about winning.

Current edition of Knicks basketball is soft. Which I guess plays to the Towns/Bridges skill set, and is definitely consistent with the league-wide approach. Chuck a billion 3s, if they go in you win and if they don't you lose.

Will be interesting to see how that works in the playoffs when people suddenly become interested in toughness and defense. Detroit may have the better of it this season, though maybe not quite enough talent on the roster for them to beat the Knicks. But Orlando does, clearly.

Way to cut off the second half of that sentence!
I like Detroit a ton. They are the Knicks of 2-3 years ago. Just tough, clutch, connected, play defense. I thought after last year they needed to try to turn a couple of their B players into an A to play with Cunningham. But that is a team where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts - but there are some pretty damn good parts in Duren, Cunningham, Thompson.

Yeah I jinxed it. Last night was ridiculous.

I do think the Knicks are playing a much more modern version of NBA basketball. I don't particularly like the aesthetics of it -- you basically just have to remain within 8-14 points heading into the fourth to have a chance to win against 90% of teams. I find a random college game much more enjoyable than a random NBA game. But, in general, I do think its what's necessary to win.

I also am still not convinced KAT's a guy you build around and can win big with, especially if your defensive anchor is as injury prone as Mitch.

Went to dinner with some former work colleagues last night so knew I'd only get home for last half of fourth quarter. However when I saw they were down 17 with 5 minutes to go I took a pass on turning it on.
It's one thing to have to rest Mitch on all back to back games, it's another to have him only play 17 minutes when he does play. He is so important to both their offense (offensive rebounding) and defense - need him to be on the court for at least 24-25 minutes in games he plays absent foul trouble (which was maybe a factor last night, not sure).

Mitch isn’t injury prone he is an injury. ☹️

Unfortunately our Knicks are not taking a step forward this year without big minutes from both Josh & Mikael. Hopefully, yesterday was mostly a case of why not rest them when we aren't winning anyway. Too bad he didn't take that same approach with Jalen though.
IMO Bridges and Towns are more part of the problem than part of the solution (Towns more so than Bridges, but I remain convinced that Bridges played the Cassius role in the knifing of Thibs, so F him). But they definitely fit what Mike Brown wants to do. My son Josh, on the other hand, is a player who does 49 great things that help you win but not the 1 thing that Mike Brown wants, so I expect to continue to see him de-emphasized.

And Jenkins. How could you forget.

Hart my favorite Knick and I believe Brown will come around on his value. Unlike many I am also a Bridges fan and believe he fits Brown's style of play perfectly. I am not a big Towns fan, but also wasn't a big Randle fan and do think we can win with him if all the other parts are humming especially Mitch & Josh.
