Knicks/Nets gane

I'll admit that I don't follow the NBA too much anymore but I have a question. (I know this probably belongs on a different forum, but it's quiet here tonight.). I was watching the Knicks/Nets game tonight and was surprised at the number of people on both benches in street clothes. I counted between 18 and 20 on each bench and they were sitting in in the seats closest to the scorers' table, so much so that the bench players were in seats well behind the baseline.

Who are all of these people? I can understand a few assistant coaches and maybe more than one trainer and a couple of equipment guys, even a player or two who may be injured...but 18 or 20? Is this the norm in the NBA or are some of the people paying to have seats "on the bench"?

I do recall a few ago, the league implemented a rule where you can have something like 15 guys listed on your roster, but that teams may only suit up 12 for the games. Something like that.
