Thanks Paultz. An uplifting, yet haunting, personal story. Good luck to him and to Hurley. Are we 'up' for the competition?

Really nice story. Can't help but wish Kimani good luck, just wish he wasn't at UCONN.

puts college basketball into perspective - thanks Mr. P and all above - I read the Courant but missed this one - I appreciate all the wholesome/constructive links that various posters offer here.
Blessings.

It was a shame that he left St. John's when he saw the writing on the wall for Norm Roberts.
Our current staff should take note of his comment:
“… This is a tough business that we’re in. You’re evaluated by wins and losses, it’s an awesome business when you’re winning, an awful business when you’re losing, but to go through what I’ve been through is not even close. I’ve never had a bad day in coaching, not one. I think we’ve got awesome jobs, it’s a privilege, a blessing to be doing what we’re doing for a living.......”

To be honest I do not wish him well at Uconn and hope the Connecticut State Police find another 90 pounds of pot in his car before he gets familiar with our current recruits.

Might be easier to just hope they suck for the next few seasons while we have good ones, and then they'll just fade away.

I don't wish anybody ill. We have to compete like hell and beat them in the recruiting wars.
We should be able to hold our own on the recruiting front against UCONN in the NY Metro--so long as they are not in the BEC and can't bring their 'Fifth Column' fandom to MSG.
To win, we'll have to be consistent, thorough, and hard working.
IF we lose the recruiting battles, the onus will be on us.
