Kevin Ollie to Leave UConn for NBA??

if ollie leaves, does anyone have any doubt smiling jim will appear to hold the seat warm for the next coach?

I do. I think he is tired of coaching. It took a toll on his health. I think he is enjoying life as a retiree, playing gold and providing commentary here and there.

@JonRothstein: UConn's Kevin Ollie has removed himself from consideration for the OKC head coaching position, sources told @CBSSports. Story coming.

I'm shocked he didn't leave himself in consideration. Even if he completely flamed out, he could go back to college and get a head gig again no problem. -- national championship coaches don't grow on trees.

On paper, UConn looks like a rapidly dying program to me without an ACC invite. The A-10 may be better than where they are now.

Perhaps Ollie spoke to Durant and wanted to hear whether he planned to stay in OKC if things went well (vs. potentially weigh a hometown move to the Wizards). Perhaps Ollie needed an answer that Durant said he definitely planned to stay in OKC if they did well under Ollie...

IMO UCONN just has to bide their time and will get admitted to a major conference in the next shuffle of the deck.

Agreed. It's also his school so like Mullin I'm sure he feels oligated to leave the program in good position. Hard to top winning the championship like he did but last year they didn't even make the tourney. I'm sure he wants to win with his own recruits and prove himself. Can't blame a guy for being loyal to his program.
