Not a huge fan of his but KG will wear #2 for Nets to honor former teammate Malik Sealy.
 
Could never connect with KG but what a wonderful tribule to Malik Sealy that he is wearing his jersey number. It' a reminder what a wonderful human being Malik was and the terrific basketball talent that he possessed. This all reflects back on the university. We could use some positive stories.
 
KG wore #21 all his years with the Timberwolves, as Malik was his favorite player when he was younger. This is why Malik had to wear #2 with the Wolves when he was with them. They were incredibly close friends. Remember, Malik was killed on his way home from a birthday party for KG. A few years back, ABC had a piece on a pregame show to a playoff game that was the 10th anniversary of the death about KG's continued link to Malik. He broke down during the interview.

KG may have been the one who kept Malik's locker empty while he was still in MN, I don't remember. That KG is doing this #2 thing for Malik is no surprise at all. I miss "Sleek" Malik.
 
Now that he's nearby, invite him to come and give some pointers to our big men. KG doesn't have an alma mater, so he's more than welcome in my book to adopt Malik's as his own.

That's a really good idea. I hope Lavin knows about this and maybe reaches out to Garnett
 
Garnett and possibly MWP both playing in NY can only be a good thing for us. Hopefully they come around campus every now and then.
 
I remember quite awhile back that Garnett mentioned that St. John's was one of the first schools to contact him when he was in High School (this was probably near the start of his junior year).

Yes he and Malik were very close
