Mar 29, 2022The strategic relationship empowers St. John’s student-athletes in a new NIL landscape, providing them with access to a wide range of Boardroom content and exclusive opportunities.Boardroom has announced a partnership with with the St. John’s University Department of Athletics that will provide a boost to the name, image, and likeness (NIL) opportunities Red Storm student-athletes can leverage to build their individual brands. As part of the partnership, Boardroom will provide key editorial collaboration around select NIL announcements, provide resources for storytelling and content development, and deliver unique access to and experiences with the company’s executives. The partnership will officially kick off with St. John’s Student-Athlete night at Carnesecca Arena on March 30.At the time, the free service offered to all of the university’s student-athletes was billed as “geared toward providing Red Storm student-athletes educational, networking and leadership opportunities … to maximize the prospects of legislation surrounding NIL.”Last July, the NCAA ruled that all college athletes could benefit from their respective name, image and likeness. Now, UNLIMITED serves as a one-stop shop for NIL — from exposure to top-tier technologies to providing approved businesses, collectives, and individuals with a customized portal for communicating with student-athletes and fulfilling NIL transactions. Boardroom aims to spotlight UNLIMITED editorially and bolster its overall mission.“There is no question that our partnership with Boardroom will help take St. John’s UNLIMITED to new heights,” said St. John’s Director of Athletics Mike Cragg in a release. “It will provide such unique opportunities for our student-athletes to maximize their NIL potential and leverage key networking and professional resources by connecting with the talented team at Boardroom right here in New York City.”Boardroom, a sports business media network founded by Kevin Durant and Rich Kleiman, has quickly grown into a premier source of sports, entertainment, and culture news and insights — including reporting on developments in the NIL space.“I’ve been a St. John’s fan my whole life, and it’s really important to what we’re building at Boardroom that we’re able to connect directly with the next generation of student-athletes and young entrepreneurial minds,” said Kleiman, CEO of Boardroom and Thirty Five Ventures. “This is just the beginning of Boardroom’s true connectivity with athletes at the university level

Can’t hurt having fans in high places

Does this give us a recruiting advantage or is every school doing something similar?

I wonder if something like this makes Champ re-evaluate his financial options. Is being a second round pick and shuttling between the G League and end of NBA bench better than what he will do with another year of college.

Understand this is an extremely long of long shots, but it must go through the kid’s mind. At least a little.

Anyway, it is nice to be attached to Kevin Durant’s name, and be the charter school. Durant is a little more known with today’s players than Lapchick,  Carnesecca, Mullin, and the glory days of SJU, NYU, CCNY, and LIU playing double headers at the Garden.

I don’t know about every school but we are the first with Kevin’s Board room media group.
