Kentucy to pay ass't coach $700k/yr

This is un-believable!!!!

Kentucky will be paying Kenny Payne $700,000 per year as an assistant coach.

One would think Slice is a bit pissed at this.

That is just crazy. That is sure a nice budget to have .What is cal making 5-10 mil

Barry Rohrssen, made $375,000 last year at KY when he replaced Orlando Antigua after he was hired as coach at South Florida. Payne earned $500,000 last year from KY.
 
Keeping Payne around as insurance just in case Calipari gets the urge to jump to the NBA. Then they can just rip that contract up and give Payne the going rate commensurate with KY head coaches (which apparently makes CEO's blush).

So I guess you are saying it was a fair salary for Slice but not for Payne Fair is double
 
Payne is the associate head coach, #1 assistant, was when Slice was there last year too. Slice was well compensated.
