This is by far the least surprising news i've seen in a while. The line between fandom and madness is never that fine, unless you're in Kentucky.

What a shame. Unfortunately, their are many nut jobs out there that don't get that it is just a game.

I've been to two Kentucky games (not involving St. John's ironically) and all I can say is that this doesn't surprise me One game I was at was an NCAA Tournament game (I think it was against Princeton), most of them border on obsessed with the program.

It's the obsessive fandom that drives the program to the heights they have achieved. Besides what's a few less referees walking around really matter.

Their is a fine line in the sand somewhere. Obsessive fandom almost helped get Kentucky the "death" penalty a few years back.
