Keita & Dixon Impact Next Year

If the NCAA had changed the transfer rule to allow immediate eligibility prior to this season how nice these two would have fit in. Keita from day one and Dixon when LoVett went down. There are probably many more talented transfers sitting out this season but none who would filled a need better than these two.

Chris keeps it simple and doesn't try to come across as a faux intellectual. Would have liked to see him snag an RJ Barrett and a Bol Bol to propel St. John's to the next level because both would likely be 1 and done players anyway. He needs to become a coach players want to play for as opposed to players Matt can recruit to play for him. Getting that impact recruit and showing success in a season changes the dynamics of influence. That is easier said than done with the slimeball handlers some elite players get attached to.
I think its hard to figure out how these guys will contribute. I mean I expected Marvin Clark to be a banger and we got more of a perimeter player who has warmed to the task. Justin Simon has added the athleticism we need in the backcourt but as advertised has struggled with his shooting. He is a classic push shooter. The guy who really benefitted from his transfer is Tariq Owens. Kid seems to have put in the work and has really improved. He would be even more of a force if he had a true power forward running shot gun with him. If Keita and Dixon contribute as much as these kids have we will all be really happy.
One thing that is underestimated is fact that many coaches would not have taken the risk that Mullin did. We had nothing coming in which guaranteed a 2 year down period. Coaching changes have a short lived honeymoon during which incoming staff can leverage some buzz. With guaranteed 2 year down period, many coaches would have run the other way.
Not diminishing fact that he should have brought in some experience. Might simply have underestimated what it would take.
And that should come with winning. The more we win, the more players will want to come here.
One and done types just don't seem to be the style of the Big East. I mean literally none of the teams is getting them, and I think that's great. It really has created a dynamic basketball league, one which every game is exciting to watch, and as a result the Big East has the #1 Conference RPI this year.
I am very excited to see them play for us next year. Especially Dixon, so many of those losses during the losing streak, especially the one @Creighton and a couple others, we went on scoring droughts where we just didn't have offense outside of Ponds. Dixon will fix that issue, he will get buckets when needed. Also, Dixon is from my hometown.
I hope everyone on here is doing well. Mike, Paultz, I miss chatting with you guys and hope you are doing well. Im a sophomore at St Johns now and these past weeks the support for the basketball team has been amazing. It is a great feeling. Even though this drama with Brooks is a minor punch to the gut, I am finally feeling good about the direction of the basketball program

Yes, you do post sparingly but I'd like to know how a guy who is still #10 on the Leader Board and who posted daily, if not hourly, became so keyboard shy once you enrolled at St. John's? I think we were all hoping you would become our redmen.com Jimmy Olsen.
Whatever the situation Jack please post more from a student's perspective because we super St. John's seniors tend to repeat ourselves.
