Throughout my life @StJohnsRedStorm has continuously let me down. No idea why I thought this situation would be different.

Monasch did not hire one of Keegan's ex teammates, Casey Calmi. Would have been a very capable coach and had the former player and previous coach's support.

That tweet from Keegan is a big ouch. What's all that about? And what happened to Frank Darby?

The vague tone in the story below and the absence of a release from the school seem odd. Don't know a thing about Darbs other than he seemed like a friendly sort who had some success with the golf program. Best of luck to him and to Mal as our new coach.

Thanks for the post.
Pretty sure Doc Gimmler was still coaching the team in 1994. Date for Darbys start seems slightly off.

Darby was fired for a remark he made to one of his players. Certainly not something anyone should get fired for. It was more of a coup to get him out. Former players like Keegan are outraged.

Thanks for sharing.

I'd like to know more. I did ask a direct question of the sports info people about where coach was but have yet to get any answer. Coach Darby, like our enormously successful fencing coach, labors in in a quiet corner of the University but has produced results far beyond what might be normal expectations of a very big city private school. Most didn't even know Coach Darby's name as was my situation when I e-mailed my question; I thought he might have fallen ill or worse. Still, no response. Whatever happened, he deserves a thank you for putting us on the map in golf.

Thanks for the insight. Frank did a great job with the golf program. I wish him all the best in the future.
