Keegan Bradley at Players Championship

Keegan Bradley got screwed.Bradley played one of the best rounds of the day and shot 71, except that 71 should have been a 69.He was penalized two shots when he marked his ball but left the ball on the green, it moved and he didn’t replace it. One of golf’s ridiculous rules.Facing an eagle putt from 70 feet on the 16th hole, Bradley marked his ball. A gust of wind moved the ball but not the marker. After it came to rest, Bradley retrieved the ball and placed it ahead of his original mark. But according to rules, Bradley was supposed to play from the ball’s new location after the gust of wind. It cost him the two-shot penalty, and he three-putted and ended up with double-bogey seven.

I like Keegan a lot and have been a big fan since he won the PGA years ago .    He’s been more consistent as he’s gotten older and usually makes. cuts , which results in a lot more $$$ .  His putting has always been his albatross . The PGA prohibiting the anchored putting stroke has hurt his play for sure . He’s a good guy too . I followed him at the US Open at Shinnecock back in 2018 and even though he wasn’t playing well he did acknowledge my yelled encouragement about all us Redmen supporting him with a smile and thumbs up . He’s a good Ambassador for us on tour . And , Jim Nantz always mentions his St Johns connection , whenever Keegan gets in contention .

Watched the final round of the Players Tournament today . Seeing Keegan move  up to the top of the  leader list kept my mind off the  the basketball situation . He played well and ended up in 5th place and took home a nice piece of change . Congrats !!1

Keegan's situation was unfortunate but he didn't get screwed. Whenever there is a possible rules infraction, the player should always call over a rules official for clarification. Keegan didn't do that, although he did consult with his playing partners. Had he not incurred that two stroke penalty, he would have been in the thick of it until the very end and would have had a legitimate shot at winning.

Keegan is still a very good ball striker. What has hurt him has been the transition away from the long putter. If he ever gets the flat stick rolling, he could be a formidable player once again.
