QUEENS, N.Y. (Feb. 14, 2023) – After nearly five decades of service at St. John’s as a pioneer for women’s sports and leader within the Department of Athletics, Senior Deputy Athletics Director/Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) and St. John’s Hall of Famer Kathleen Meehan has announced she will retire upon the conclusion of the 2022-23 academic school year.

A double alumna of St. John’s, Meehan has been a part of the university community for nearly her entire life, following in the footsteps of her parents who both graduated from St. John’s. One of the longest-tenured members in the history of St. John’s Athletics, Meehan began her professional career as the Assistant Athletic Director for Women’s Athletics in 1975 and has since played an influential role in the growth of University’s athletic program for the past 48 years.

So CMA pushes out another long time employee of the University. 😉😊🤣 (Just kidding probably should have put it in the Jokes thread)

Congrats! Don't find that kind of single employer career much anymore. Something to be proud of.
Yes it is. She's a year older than me and started working when I was a senior. I thought my subsequent 40 year career at Chemical/MHT/Chase/JPM etc. was long enough. :)

Great story on Kathy...

When my daughter was in 9th grade, she was doing a project on Title IX - womens equality in sports. She needed to include some real examples /references.... so I recommended to email her and let her know that she was a fan of the team and I knew her when I was a student.. While Kathy wouldn't remember me, I had spent time in athletic dept as p/t school jobs in mid 90's...

my daughter sent an email to Kathy with some questions.

She didn't think she'd get a response but Kathy was so excited a young girl reached out on the subject of equality in sports. She wrote back that same day and wrote back a ton on her experience as an athlete and admin. More info that could have expected...
