Chatted with John at PC game. He still has great grasp of local basketball and is fun to talk to. He is blogging again and is on Twitter. Handle, article;

Nathan Ekwu a 6'7 PF from Cardinal Hayes is a player John thought SJU should be all over in 24 Class. He felt he and DelaRosa would be good additions, but was emphatic that Ekwu had the best upside. When asked if staff has been out to see him, he was not sure.

I do know that an older fellow who is very close to him, and has acted as a mentor to him, played basketball at BC and is a Hayes alumnus.

He also attended ND's summer basketball camp last year.

Very nice young man and a very good student.

Tony may have been up to Hayes but I'm not 100% certain.

Hayes, as you may be aware, has a great team this season.

A week or so ago, Head coaches from BC, Rutgers and a few other schools visited the Grand Concourse to see The Cardinals and of course Nathan play.

I could be wrong but many said Hayes would be the school that could most benefit from Rice closing. They have definitely been on the rise the past few years.

Saw them on MSG Varsity recently. Great guards. That young kid Goodrich who we had interest in fills in ably for the senior guards. To me they could be CHSAA champs this year.

I saw john from a distance at the Fordham game. It was the first time I had seen at a game in years.

Baron has a very high basketball IQ. Only a soph. Needs to develop physically. Definitely a D1 prospect.

I speak to John on a regular basis and know him to be a remarkable individual beyond basketball.

That's the kid KOB said was built like Lebron, right?

Just checked. Looks like I was confusing this kid with the Iona Prep big man.

Wish he would post

What is there that is interesting or relevant about the St John's basketball program that would cause someone who knows the game to spend their time posting? Most of those folks would rather spend their time watching good, well-coached teams play. It's only the diehard St John's loyalists that bother posting anymore (plus a few people that just need the attention).

Diehard fans, antagonists, and people with nothing better to do.

JPM watches all basketball especially HS basketball and that's what I'm looking for.

Each of us can decide whether we fit one, two or three of those descriptions.
