Jordan Dickerson C - SMU

Well-known member
Formerly of Lincoln. According to the following tweet, the big fella is eligible and ready to go. Saw him a long time ago at west 4th street. Was a project back then, don't know how he's progressed, but hey 7'1 is 7'1 and Roy Hibbert was't anything coming out of high school so maybe he's worth a look.

I don't see how he would fit with what the staff is trying to do. He's better off going to a team with a deliberate, half court game.

You do realize that having a 7 footer in the back of the press protecting the rim is probably the best asset any pressing team can have. I'm not sure how good this kid is, but any type of pressuring team like us would I think benefit from that type of size. Gives our guards much more freedom and ability to pressure when you got a big guy behind you to deter.

I remember Hibbert coming out of high school, and he was a top 15-20 player (between a 3 and 4-star recruit) at his position. So, I wouldn't exactly say he wasn't much coming out of high school.

Nevertheless, I've heard of Dickerson's name, but not sure what he brings to the table, as I don't know enough about him.

Curtis Johnson! that's the name I was trying to remember. I rooted like crazy for that kid. I always felt bad for him with his problems with his feet.

I was just trying to look him up also. Here's the guy you want to use as an example of the myth "You can't teach size".

not any good?

Not the times I have seen him. The best I can say about him is that he is tall. The term " can't teach size" is one of the worst used in basketball .

Bingo, Happy! It's a very trite statement. How did guys like Cujo, Tomas and Coker work out?

you can't teach size...but you can coach it.

You can coach ability regardless of size. I agree that "you can't teach size" is the is the worst of all sports cliches.

Met Curtis Johnson a couple of times, the sweetest kid you ever met. Really wish he had a bit more skill, but he was hampered by bad feet. Surprised you guys fifnt mention Marco Baldi !! lol, a Louie fav.

Pretty sure most of us fans would have given an arm to have 15 minutes a game from Coker last season during BE play.

I can't speak for most, but I'm not one of those fans. Do you think he would've made a difference in garnering more wins?

Coker was useful on the defensive end in his senior year. Some of those close games, the Rutgers game comes to mind, may have been won if they had an extra big like Coker.

An extra big like Coker?! Some of you have gone coo-coo with this "big" stuff that it seems to be clouding judgement.

Seriously, how useful was Coker from an overall standpoint? Was Coker gonna be the difference for the 2011-2012 team to make a tournament? Was he gonna be the final piece to an NIT team?
