Just finished listening to Rothstein with Evan and Joe. Long story short is he doesn't give us much of a shot. Mentions Cheatam (sp?) as being a big factor with his size for which we have no answer. Also, hyped L Dortz PG as "being higher on draft boards" than Shamorie. He even picks AZ State to knock off Buffalo in next round. Typical NCAA matching Hurley from team he use to coach.
I hope he is wrong. I just don't know which SJU team shows up. He also basically said Hurley is a much better coach than CM. I can't argue. Maybe if our guys and CM have a pulse they should use the us against the world mentality. But I haven't heard anyone picking SJU.

Actually, I think that's a very fair assessment. We have a decent shot to win the game and we might have more talent than ASU. But as we have learned, much more than effort, the way our roster was constructed (no big man) will play a huge role.

In the end, I hope with 2 minutes left, we are in the game. We either have to be the team that shoots a blistering percentage from three, or hangs around and seizes opportunity in the final moments.

This game is simply a tossup, and the Vegas line of +1 just confirms that. I'm going in not expecting anything but would be thrilled if we win.

Size isn’t an excuse here. Cheatham is a 6’8 4/3 and the other kid is a 6’8 235 PF.

Clark is 6’7 235. Keita is 6’9 240. Herron and Simon are 6’5 220 and 6’5 215, respectiveley. Roberts is 6’9 and LJ is 6’7.

The difference is that their two guys play aggressive and attack the glass. Cheatham said “we push guys out.” That’s just a matter of tenacity and focus.

Moreover. they are very foul prone. If Hurley sticks to man their will be some great opportunities to go at them and get them on foul trouble...especially the 6’8 235 kid whose name escapes me. He’s averaging 3.2 fouls in 24 minutes. He makes Clark look like he’s averse to fouling.

The last two weeks of our season was basically a training camp for ASU. Dealing with Xavier’s Jones/Hankins/Marshall combo twice, Providence and DePaul’s bigs. Getting maybe too up for DePaul and crashing against Marquette.

There is no reason our guards can’t dominate their guards and we can’t keep in respectable on the glass.

I believe trying to beat a team for the 3rd time in a season and fatigue accounts for how we lost our last BET game.

Anyone betting us lost a lot of money lately. We covered against Depaul and Nova, and that's it lately. Still, my reson for hope is that Arizona State doesn't know us like the Big East coaches do. We are a bit quirky and not a traditional team, so maybe we confuse them.
