Jon Rothstein article

A few blurbs of interest for St. John's fans here:

- One on Gene Keady as assistant coach

- One on former recurit Norvell Pelle (Big East Bound?)

- One on former Johnnie Nurideen Lindsey (I won't say what it's about - make you read the article)

Why wouldn't he consider SJU again?

Because we have no scholarships and I wouldn't touch him with a 10 ft pole

In the words of our former President: "There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again."

Truly a case of "Fool me once . . ." but Iona would be a "curious choice on his part. . .some of the schools (SDSU, UNLV etc...) previoulsy to which he has been linked are higher profile and closer to home...lending more credence to fact that he is a bit "flighty". . .

I understand that the likes of San Diego St. and UNLV supposedly backed off from Pelle. Both of those schools are in a position where they can move on from a mercurial talent in Pelle. DePaul is trying to revitalize their program, so they feel Pelle might be worth the risk. Iona, who is attempting to be an up-and-coming mid major, may also feel Pelle is worth the risk. Not to mention, they probably feel they are gonna put a good team on the floor (this season), and Pelle may be the player who helps get them over the hump.

The question? Is he even eligible?
