Johnnie's in the News are a late storm coming

He has to remember to add DePaul to Penn State as teams that are not grizzled.

Yes. That quote was actually said before the Depaul game. Bad job by Rubin not clarifying that.

Is Rubin moonlighting for the SJU communications dept? Or somehow related to Lavin? Seriously, both NY Post and ESPN managed to pull off some objectivity today in their pregame coverage.

Did you honestly expect anyone to do otherwise?

Like I said, both ESPN and NY Post are at least throwing some objective criticisms in their articles.

Some but nothing crazy or really overt. For us fans its not early but for the writers who cover the team each day and have to maintain a relationship with the coach and administration its still early.

My issue with the media roadshow regarding this team coming together in February is that it was and still is unecessary.

If Nostradamus and his staff felt that based upon various factors February is when this team was going to hit it's stride, that's an internal conversation. How do we prepare to keep the kids focused if we hit some bumps Nov-Jan, what can we as coaches do to pick up a few wins before we project to be playing our best basketball, etc.

Going public with it so early accomplished precisely nothing in terms of upside. On the downside, it put a useless timeline out there for the team to hear that they aren't supposed to really start playing well until February. Why would a coach ever do that? Why not have a team thinking they should be coming together as soon as possible?

If he had stuck with how this started, that he thought they could be a dangerous team late in the season, that's one thing. But he has now turned this into we aren't going to start playing our best until February contrasted against the alternative of not really playing well prior to that. For a team of upperclassmen that had the advantage 20 extra days of playing together in connection with Europe, that is a patently absurd position for a coach to take.

CBS has been blasting us.

Announcers at tail end of Dayton-Fordham game also had less than flattering things to say about us. I don't think we need to worry to much about recruits seeing the negative stuff written on here, the media seems to be getting the word out just fine.

CBS has been blasting us.

Didn't hear comments, but color guy was Vin Parise, a fill in guy on radio for us.

They were brief comments. Don't remember verbatim but they both questioned what was going on with our team considering the talent we had.

The only storm coming is the sh*t storm that will roll in after we have a less than perfect outcome tonight.
