His 35 year old son Michael passed away last week.

So sad. I happen to wind up adjacent to him on the train after an MSG game (he's a Jersey guy). I have seen him many times this way and he is always carrying an old-school briefcase. Nice guy, happy to chat about SJU basketball.

Prayers go out to John Minko and the rest of his family and friends of his 35 year old son Michael T. MInko. The loss of a son or daughter cut down in their prime is devastating. I Pray that his son's soul Rests in Peace, and that the family can find some comfort in this time of enormous grief.
John Minko was one of the originals with the FAN, and a terrific person and the consummate professional. SJU was lucky to get him to be our radio play by play voice and his call of "bingo" when a Johnny hits a basket brings joy to my ears. He seems like one of those people that no one has a bad word to say about.
