John Minko

Minko said the timing of his departure is not what he would have wanted, but he said he had been considering leaving for some time now.

Just heard his update earlier today prior to the CMA segment. Always seemed like a good guy.

Mink has a spot in heaven reserved after working with Francesca so long. He was on track team at Butler for those who don’t know.

FAN last week cut bit hosts like Chris Moore and Richard Neer.

This week parent company Entercom announced bigger layoffs across the board.

Yeah they left door open for those 2 to come back. Assume with Minko maybe they did too but maybe he wants to pack it in. Neer packed it in years ago and worked remotely from NC.

I have enjoyed listening to the Mink Man for many years., sometimes at 7;00am with Imus and sometimes late into the evening for a Redmen game . He is a very classy guy . I hope he continues to be the voice of St. Johns .

I wonder if that's the same Richard Neer who used to be a DJ for WNEW-FM back in its glory days (1970s, early 1980s). If it is, I very much enjoyed listening to him then.

Neer used to be pretty friendly with Bruce and promoted his music a lot on WNEW when Bruce first started out.

I'm trying to remember if it was Richard Neer or another WNEW jock Dennis Elsas (sp?) who did the last radio interview with John Lennon. I remember listening to it but always confused Neer & Elsas so not sure who it was.

Edit: Just checked and It was Dennis Elsas and it wasn't the last one, was actually in 1974 on WNEW - my memory isn't what it used to be! It was a great interview though, lol.

According to Newsday, he will continue doing our games.

Love the Mink man! He lives in Jersey and I have spoken to him several times on the train after MSG games. We both park our cars at the Secaucus station and take the one-stop ride to Penn. A very good natured guy who always made a point of saying hello and giving a high five to my young son.

Glad he will keep doing Johnny games.

Glad to hear he will still be doing SJU games. Bingo! If I remember correctly (and I am not certain) I thought he had some kind of medical issue a year or so ago? Don’t think he ever wanted to talk about it. Anyway at 67 he took a buyout and still doing the games sounds like a good deal for him. For all the years putting up with the bloviating Francessa he deserves a medal!

Yep. Neer wrote a good book "FM: The Rise and Fall of Rock Radio". It's a good read and he shares stories of promoting Bruce early on.
