John Franco Night @ Citi Field

Your fellow Johnny will be there! I considered wearing a SJ shirt with a Mets hat for the occasion lol

Was at the game tonight, and the Mets did a nice job of promoting SJU whenever possible.
They had Johns teammates from the cws teams on the field, interviewed him between innings about his time at St Johns, Franco called out Looie and Kaiser in his acceptance speech, .... And to top it all off they announced it to the crowd when we beat UNC 9-5!

Great night for Mets fans and St Johns fans who were at Citi Field, Mets really went out of their way to acknowledge his college career as much as possible, and they didn't have to do that. Good work by the organization.

Agreed Desco! I was at the game too and I had my Mets hat with my SJ sweatshirt. I noticed a LOT of St. John's gear since it was Franco night...great to see! Both baseball teams are really impressing!

My wife and I remember sitting in the stands watching St John's with John Franco and Frank Viola pitching against Seton Hall behind home plate and St John's went into the NCAA..They both became professional baseball players with Franco having the most saves until other players came along. That was the last game we saw before moving to Marco Island, Florida.

I worked for the Mets from 1983-92 & knew Johnny well, very humble man never forgot where hes from.
His wfie & brothers were cool too since I had the Mets players parking lot.
John really showed me alot when He had recently retired mets groundskeeper Pete Flynn on the field next to coach
Lou C. He gave a Shout out to Joe Russo to take a bow too.

Funny bec. when I worked the players gate & kids would show 4hrs before games for
autos & I used to lend kids my St.j's hat to get Franco to stop & He sign everytime laughing knowing it was my hat.
Frank Viola was cool too

Johnny was good friends with the owners of Pastels in brooklyn & hung there alot.
