Joe Lunkhead doesn't have us in the 68 team field for the 2019 NCAA Tournament. Maybe one or two thoughts before this thread dies on the vine. :p (Hey it's the only scoop I could come up with and haven't started a thread in years). :S

Who's Joe Lunardi? Does he need a paycheck that bad??? Those who can do, and those who can't, write sports.

Lunardi's expertice is picking the field of sixty eight in the NCAA tournament after the games are played. He has shown a knack for knowing what the selectors consider important in evaluating the resumes of each team for about the last month of the season.
As far as I know he has never shown any skill in picking the selections prior to the games being played.

He has Seton Hall and Xavier in, neither of which are going to happen.

We'll get more press later on by not being included now, and him eventually having to write a paragraph about how he screwed up by excluding us.

If Shamorie stays in the NBA draft we'll get plenty of press and he will say that excluding St. John's was predicated on his belief that Shamorie Ponds was not returning.
The only upside to Ponds leaving would be that Mullin’s team will have to play complete team ball and we'll get to see if he can coach without relying on one player. If he gets to 20 wins without Ponds he has turned the corner. If he wins only one more game he is likely walking back to California because recruits may be turned off.
