Before the season started, we would have been thrilled to even get a whiff of possible post season play. Shows us that CMA and his staff have done an incredible job of getting the players to buy into his system. To see the player development of guys like Roberts, Earlington, Williams, Champagnie, etc in such a short period of time is just remarkable.

Can't wait for the league season start. Imagine, if we can go 9-9 during BE play, we'll have 20 wins. How many of us thought that was even a remote possibility this season?

Congrats to everyone on a great finish to the non league schedule. GO JOHNNIES!!!

I really appreciate that North Carolina at 7-5 is first four out. Does anyone think if they weren’t named North Carolina they would even be mentioned. What a joke.

Not that I'm complaining about being in the conversation in a year where nobody expected us to be. That's awesome.

That said, we should be in the field. I feel like this must still be partially based on projections/expectations rather than just current resumes. If the season ended today then we'd be a lock with our 11-2 record, #47 NET, and 2 Q1 wins. I assume Lunardi expects us to tumble come Big East play, which is fair since somebody has to lose.

Regardless, incredible achievement that we're having this conversation in late December.

With all due respect to all those who find this interesting, just nonsense for Lunardi to even bother right now.

Lunardi's gotta make a living
He has to work more than one month a year

I did not realize generating completely irrelevant predictions was a job, my bad.

Good work if you can get it.

It's just a part time job (at least it was until he left St Joes last spring - it probably still is), though one I'm sure he's overpaid for.

I’m happy with CMA but I don’t think posters here realize how hard getting 8 let alone 9 wins is about to be. I hope I’m wrong but I don’t know.

We’ve watched SJU all these years. We know full well how hard those wins are to get because we are usually on the low end. We aren’t our most talented version just yet but coaching is improved a ton and we have depth and play full speed. Every game will have to be earned by every team and we have shown we can mix it up with some very good teams as well. Keeping that pace and effort level is key to overcoming our offensive talent deficits. It’s a long season so today’s game is only a piece of it. Agree the Big East is extremely deep this year and will be a fight for everybody. We play the #12 team in the country today and there’s only a 4-point spread and we were picked near last in the Big East.

Sure it is. Don’t you watch local weather forecasters? ;-)

I'm sure it doesn't hurt that we've beaten a 3 seed (West Virginia) and a 5 seed (Arizona) and we've lost competitive games to a #1 seed (Butler) and a #8 seed (Xavier).

If we can win the next 2, which we should be able to do, we will jump up to 1st 4 in. Wow!!![/quote]

And, he has Rutgers as one of the Last 4 in, as of right now.

I know that the Big 10 is very strong this year, but their only really good win was over a Seton Hall team, without Myles Powell. They also beat Wisconsin, but the Badgers are not what they once were. Plus, they lost to St. Bonaventure.

IMO, that's not a better resume then wins over Arizona and West Virginia, with the worst loss being to a decent Vermont team, and it certainly doesn't beat DePaul's resume to this point, either.

Rutgers is the real deal this year. i agree that they should be in. They have a big game tonight against Penn State. I think Rutgers will beat them.
