Under Armour Invitational 2013:
Joe Burton, 6′-6″, 2014, SF, Atascocita (TX)/Houston Defenders – Perhaps it’s a testament to just how many great players there are in the state of Texas that Burton isn’t on the national radar just yet. Burton is a sizable wing forward that is extremely skilled as a tremendous all-around player. Burton is protypical size for his position, has a polished all-around game, and has looked like a high-major recruit all weekend.

Under Armour Top Performers

JOSEPH BURTON - SF - 2014 - HOUSTON DEFENDERS
6-7 - ATASOCITA H.S. - PORTER, TX
Burton just goes and goes, many times making the game look easy. The physical wing presence attacked the rim hard all day and stepped back a few times in different games to show off his three-point capabilities. His toughness on the court was infectious to his teammates. Burton rebounded, ran the floor and made plays in the half court, putting together a couple games of 25 points, 6 rebounds and 24 points, 5 rebounds respectively.

@Hoopniks: Hstn Defenders' second half offense consisted of Joe Burton dribble penetration to basket so its fitting he did it for win w/ 5 secs left.

@JoshGershon: Joe Burton wouldn't let Houston Defenders lose to KC Run GMC. He got to the basket and/or free throw line at will down the stretch.

I've liked pretty much every recruit we've been mentioned with thus far for 2014. Well need 3-4 so hope Lav and staff can follow through with another good class.

Per Future 150....

Joe Burton, 2014 SG, Houston Defenders: The 6-foot-5 wing stole the show at the Under Armour Summer Slam for the second consecutive day, again scoring 30+ points for his Houston Defenders team. He knocked down several three-point baskets and was feeling it scoring from all levels on Thursday, at one point scoring 14 straight points. The long and athletic shooting guard was also effective slashing to the rim and using his craftiness to score against contact. He will be one of the highest risers when we update our 2014 rankings in the following weeks.
