Jim Boeheim To Retire?

Like him or not, Boeheim does not want to leave the BE. But I doubt he is ready to retire.

Cuse wins it all----he retires.

Even so, I am certain he was disgusted by the falling apart of the BE. Huge BE guy from Day-1. Respected Looie a lot.

I don't think he is going to coach a long time if at all in the ACC, younger wife, young kids....that is how I see it.

Boeheim can't go on forever, and the end must be near. The travel demands of playing in the ACC will only be slightly worse than the Big East, with travel to Milwaukee, Louisville, Chicago, South Bend, and other non-Eastern cities.

I travel a lot around the country, and every college fan I meet laments the destruction of regional rivalries that geographically based conferences creates. The original Big East before expansion outside of the region was great. It wasn't just a concidence that the heyday of the Big East included strong rivalries of schools that you could drive to within 5 hours from NYC.

At some point colleges may just kill the goose that laid the golden egg in their insatiable quest for money,

I know I'm not the only one who said Boeheim would never coach a game in the ACC shortly after they announced their departure. Would not surprise me at all.

PS they can't have Hopkins as the Head Coach the first year in the ACC ergo he talks to USC.

I guess that's the other possibility. I can't see it though. Hopkins knows JB has 2-3 years left tops if he's not leaving now. He was anointed the successor 5 years ago? Can't see him leaving for a career killer job with the HC job in his sights.

Did his talks with USC speed things up?

My thoughts exactly. I doubt he ever coaches a game in the ACC. Syracuse is losing a TON of talent this year: Southerland, MCW, Triche, and possibly some underclassmen as well.
