He is the son of Mergin Sina who played at URI in the 80's. I think he has committed and decommited twice already!
Since his dad was a coach the kid has great fundamentals. I would not be surprised to see Temple added to the list now that the Owls will be in the Big East by 2013.

He only committed and decommitted once.

"Right now, he's still a little bit all over the place," coach Sina said. "Once he opened up his recruitment Villanova got in the picture, Seton Hall, Rutgers, Virginia and Miami (FL). Alabama still in it obviously, Penn State and Stanford has gotten involved a little bit."

Coach Sina continued by saying, "We really haven't narrowed it down yet because there's a lot coming at him right now." Sina has offers from Alabama, Cincinnati, La Salle, Miami (FL), Rutgers, Seton Hall and St. John's according to his Rivals.com page. Clemson, Florida State, Georgetown, Kansas, and Michigan have also shown interest as well.

St. John's has done a great job of recruiting Sina and was one of the first schools to inquire about the 6-1 point guard when he re-opened his recruitment. "Absolutely," coach Sina said of St. John's being in the picture. "I know [assistant] coach [Tony] Chiles very well. We grew up playing basketball together. He's already made contact with us and obviously they're going to recruit Jaren.

"Jaren's wide open right now but St. John's is definitely in the hunt as well." Coach Sina and assistant Chiles close relationship shouldn't hurt St. John's chances of landing the guard either.

I'd add this kid in a heartbeat. I don't care about this "style of play" nonsense. He could more than handle himself in the full court in our system, and he would run the show in the half court.

Any chance, if he opens up, that we make a play for him? I like coaches and former players kids. They tend to have high IQ and solid fundamentals---something we sorely need. Hopefully, he can also hit some threes.

I hope not

What don't you like about him?

I've seen him a couple times and he is a great 4 year kid! Smart heady kid that can shoot it a bit, quick good handle...... Not a star but would be a nice program kid

Should not have posted that really. I coached against the kid many times and frankly never liked his court demeanor or attitude. Embarrassed and mocked players lesser than him and for an old, old school man I just didn't like it. Back in the day, we would have taken care of it ourselves but you just can't play that way anymore. One move in particular, he would get the ball and fake baseball throwing it into the defenders face and laugh when they cringed; just classless IMO. I will not take away that he can play however.
