Jaquan Sanders

I know it is early in the season and all, however, there are nine other Pirates getting more MPG currently, than Jaquan Sanders...

Asking those of you in the know, how does his decision to leave St Johns for $eton Hall sit with the family? Kevin Willard recruited him, left for Maryland and didn't think enough to bring Sanders with him to College Park. Sha inherited him, appears to be playing others above him and will probably recruit over him.

Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts or information. Thanks.

He'd be the 10th or 11th guy over here as well. He's not better than any of the starting guards, and I don't see him being a better player in year 1 than Wusu or Storr, which is the first 2 guards off the bench. Storr is a top 100 recruit, and he's only playing 13 MPG so far.

If you're on a good high major team with veteran players that play your position, you have to be outstanding to demand many minutes as a freshman, I'm sure Sanders family and handlers are aware of that. It's way too early to know how things are going to work out with him at Seton Hall. Also why the $ for Seton Hall? With NIL everybody is getting paid now.

I am not sure anyone knows whether Mr. Sanders was offered an opportunity to move to Maryland but declined the offer.

Also does anyone know what numbers of open scholarship slots Willard had when he took the Maryland job ?

Maryland is a lot further away than East Orange is to Rockaway which I thought was the reason.

Then again if a coach only felt he was SHU worthy and not Maryland worthy.........

Yea, I thought I'd read he wanted to be close to home, but not too close. Maryland may have been farther than he wanted to go.

Willard had six scholarships to fill. Two Freshman and four transfers. One of the transfers was from Seton Hall but had played very little (Jahari Long). He has played 14.5 minutes a game which is eighth on the team. No idea if he offered Sanders a scholarship but like others said it's very possible Sanders chose to stay.

Sanders can shoot but really not a prime time player. Not saying this because SJ lost him, but he really seems a complementary type player & really not worth worrying about.

Is it just me or does it seem like many of the kids we were close to landing in recent years and chose to go elsewhere, ended up being nothing special? Riley, Cuffe and obviously Sanders come to mind.

It does seem that way. That's why I didn't really overreact to Brandon Williams not coming. Obviously getting both Brandon Williams and Gardner would have been good, but if you could only get one I think Gardner was the better prospect.

Or they could have come here, showed nothing to chagrin if fans. 😇

None of them have even played half a season yet, let’s not right them of so early.
