No. He played his freshman year at Texas AM, his sophomore season for us, and this is his junior year. They don't look at it by semester, they look at it by season; did you play that season? And the answer for him is yes, he played 10games or something his freshman year.
At least that's what i believe to be true.
With the way the NCAA grants waivers I wouldnt say anything is impossible. In his first two seasons due to transfer( his own doing) and injury I dont think he played a complete one seasons full of games. He is rightfully a junior but im sure people have got waivers that were less deserved in the past.

Branch is a true junior both academically and in athletic eligibility with one more year of eligibility.
His Freshman year he suited up and played half a season before transferring. That half year counts for one year
His sophomore season he sat out until the first semester is over, meaning he sat a full year. Playing the second semester counts as his sophomore year. This year is his junior year. Next year is his senior year.
There is not a scenario right now that would qualify him for a waiver to get another year of eligibility. He did miss a season or enough games due to injury to be granted another year. Only way he stays an extra year is if he redshirts next year.
Compare that to Matt Brust, who also transferred in after the fall semester of his freshman year. He actually sat out a year in a a half and thus played three full years (his fifth year of college was his fourth year of eligibility).

Not true. If he got hurt and wanted a red shirt year he would be eligible without a special waiver as he would have only played 3 of 4 years not 5. he sat out parts of 2 seasons not a whole separate season. With the way the NCAA grants waivers I wouldnt say anything is impossible. Correct, the only waiver Jamaal would be eligible for would be if he got hurt before next year and didn't play. Then he'd need a special waiver to play his senior season in 15/16 since he'd already have used up his five years to play four seasons.
