JaKarr Cut by Sixers

Disappointed for Jakarr, but he's cashed some NBA checks and should attract a decent dollar somewhere down the road. Wish him all the best...

Keep your head up JaKarr. You've accomplished enough to be proud of!

You're right he did cash in but it's very disappointing to see his potential not met. I have no answers as how to handle this leaving early, but there must be some way to protect these guys from losing their payday but still keep them in college where they can develop. (No, I don't think paying college players is the answer, either.)

I think Sampson will manage to stick around in the NBA for years as long as he is healthy, whether it be with Philly or other teams

Any of us who ever dribbled a basketball on an asphalt court dreamed of playing in the NBA despite our own limitation.

Sampson scaled those impossible heights, and if he never plays another NBA minute can be proud of what he has accomplished thus far.

I hope he sticks - there's a lot more money to be made if he does.

Speaking of the NBA, that's another thing I want from the Mullin regime. Of course the main thing I want is success and tournament wins, but another thing I'd really like is to have a few solid players in the NBA, maybe even a star.

At the very least he becomes a premium overseas - an American who has played in the League.

"@ShamsCharania: Philadelphia free agent JaKarr Sampson is finalizing a two-year contract with the Denver Nuggets, league sources tell The Vertical."

Good for him. Gets a 2 year deal and gets on a better team.

I posted more than once that he was making a huge mistake, but once he actually made the Sixers I admitted being wrong and noted that he could end up having a long NBA career (I probably said 15 years).

I still think that'll happen. He's super athletic and by all accounts a really good guy, so even if he never starts he'll be able to be on a bench for years and make enough to have a comfortable life if he spends wisely.

Harmless becoming a regular in Portland's rotation and Sampson getting another chance. Good news!
