Residents voted down a bill to renovate the coliseum. They are under the impression that they already pay a sufficient amount in taxes.I still don't understand why the Nassau Coliseum wasn't renovated or rebuilt with sufficient seating capacity to keep the Islanders on Long Island. That's where they belong IMO.
New stadiums are great local economic bonanzas, creating good jobs, revitalizing neighborhoods and generating a lot of local property taxes.
Now more than ever, NYC needs its own full-time hockey arena.
I'd like to see them in Suffolk over somewhere within the NYC limits.
