Interesting Idea For When Students Are On Break

I was just talking to a friend of mine who is a recent grad from Michigan State about a ticket package deal that they offered to alumni for the home game against Indiana earlier this week. Like many schools this time of year MSU students are on break and many were not going to be around for the game. The school offered a deal for that game to alumni where for a fixed price they get to sit in the student section, have a pre-game dinner and meet Coach Izzo and they were all given white Izzone T-shirts to wear so the the atmosphere was very similar as if the students were there. Many who took part were recent grads so you still had a fairly young & energetic crowd. Not sure if this meant that regular season ticket holders did not get that game included but it sounds like a great idea for those one or 2 games every year when the students are away.

Not sure what SJU did vs. Providence bu tthere were plenty of non-students in the student section of sold out CA.

Looked like the STJ bench side was non students and the opposing side was students.

There were plenty of black Prov T-shirts in the (student) section closest to the SJU bench.

You sure they weren't black STJ shirts? Maybe I didn't notice since Prov had nothing to cheer about.

I believe some students got tickets from friends who weren't around for family their members. Since no one wants their parents sitting near the sleeveless guy ( ;) ), most of them sat on the opposite end.

I didn't see too many PC fans at all in the arena. The few that were there had nothing to cheer about after the score was 2-0.

I thought it was the opposite: Most parents don't want their kids sitting near the sleeveless guy.

I was surprised at the number of Providence fans in the place, but yea, I agree with Moose - it was like they corraled students and put in one section at the far end - but it's likely that the more loyal, diehard students are in that section to begin with.

Happy New Year's all.

That is the case, the diehards all are always in the section with the sleeveless guy near the visitors bench. The Lavinwood side gets all the publicity but the true fans are with the sleeveless guy. Most of the students at the Providence game I saw are always on the visitors side.

There were also plenty of empty seats in both student sections sell out or not.
