Interesting article on Kansas Basketball 22-23

I looked up several articles on KU basketball predictions for the 22-23 season and in every article I've read, there is no mention of Kyle Cuffe Jr. as even a reserve getting any playing time? They just brought in two top 50 freshman guards in Grady Dick and MJ Rice and other holdover guards that got significant playing time on their Natl. Championship team. In fact Kyle himself was a 4 star player ranked 56 by Rivals after his senior year. It's great to play for the Blue Bloods as long as you get the chance to play.

Never heard of the transfer portal? Decisions made do not have to be permanent.
Yep … you have a keen sense of the obvious pointing out the transfer portal which could be a consequence of his selection of Kansas.

And yes, his Dad has Van’s telephone number if he chooses to consider transfer.

Hey Kyle made his choice and will bear the good and bad consequences of that decision.. Good luck to him.

Time to move on.

My post was not about getting Kyle or not getting him or anyone else. The point I was trying to make was the perils of choosing a blue blood where many are recruited over and may never get to play. In several sports, their benches are filled with many a high school AA who never had the chance to exhibit their skills and get any sort of meaningful playing time. One need only look at the stockpile of 5 star quarterbacks at many an SEC school who never get the chance to take a snap. And while many will eventually use the transfer portal, consider the time, effort and most times eligibility wasted at a given school, not to mention the untransferable course work. Wait, does that even matter anymore?

In the case of Kyle, he got to experience a national championship and maintain his complete eligibility. I think he’s doing alright. But if he decides he is not, id gladly accept him back home.

I think that he's "doing alright" is a pretty big assumption. Sure he retained his eligibility and experienced, from the bench, a National Championship but how about his psyche since his play was not actually part of that championship? He had to put in the same amount of work, time, effort, academic sacrifice as the other players on the team and got no play experience out of that. That has to be difficult for a young man who entered the school with an abundance of accolades. Too often we look at these kids as "athletes" and nothing beyond but they are young kids with feelings, hopes and goals like the rest of us and many times very fragile egos. We only hear about the successes coming out of these high powered programs but not much of those that don't succeed, many of whom lose confidence, become depressed and don't have the bright future they once aspired to. In terms of Kyle, as a child of a former Johnnie, I wish him the best and hope he becomes a contributing member of whatever program he decides to ride with.

Is thinking he’s not doing alright, also an assumption? We know he could have left after the season and he didn’t.

Agree Mase, He red shirted year one, something his dad and he embraced. Whether he constantly gets recruited over is of course possible, but to conclude anything negative from his first year seems folly.
