I'll admit when I'm wrong.

I was worried that the firing of Lavin was going to end in a debacle. I was fearful the administration didn't have a plan and we'd go down a checklist of coaches and get nothing but rejection. I hadn't been this worried about the program since the Pitts incident. It took that win over Gtown to give me hope again. This time I only had to wait until they announced the Mullin hiring.

Instead, they did their due diligence got the man they wanted and he went to work right away. I liked and still like Steve Lavin and still do. But I'm very proud how this transition occurred and am 100% behind the Mullin regime!

Let's do it.

I agree, this was handled very well. It's a credit to our new President. I thought it was interesting that he took the lead at the press conference and the AD remained relatively quiet. That in itself gave me a renewed confidence as to where the BB program stands in the eyes of the higher-ups.

Refreshing.

I think we were all waiting for the Admin to screw this up but they hit a grand slam hiring Mullin. I haven't been this excited about SJU hoops in a long time.

RedStormRising2 I was in your camp. I like Lavin, hammer to rock and all that but it turns out the new President has higher expectations for the University. Good on him.

I was also skeptical. I'm more than convinced now. Handled in a strong manner. No search committee. No waiting. Fired a coach who just made NCAA's is gutsy, but this administration making a move for greatness impresses me. I love how the recruiters they targeted ie Rohrssen and Abdelmassih. Committed to bringing in top notch talent too.

I was also against a Lavin firing. I figured here we go again with the search committee and a chance at another retread or up an coming mid major guy. I was down on a Friday and three days later, sky high to say the least. Great job by the new President.

Retread is a politically incorrect word. I think you mean intellectually challenged. ;) :)

President Bobby G is a shrewd businessman who should not be confused with Harington.

Over time Bobby G's overall results as StJohs President will demonstrate just how ineffective Harrington was.

Likewise the lack of efforts expended by Lavin and his "hard working staff" during the last few recruiting cycles was well known by those familiar with high school recruiting. Coach Mullin and his staff will over time just how ineffective Lavin was.

Only time will tell. I'm very encouraged by what's been going on but I don't think anyone should be admitting that they were wrong yet. We have yet to fill out our staff, sign a recruit, win a game, etc.

This was a bold move that may (I hope) be the best thing that ever happened to our program. It's still way too early to be making any judgements one way or the other though.

Are you saying Hammer to rock was a sham? ;) :)
