 If—
By Rudyard Kipling

(‘Brother Square-Toes’—Rewards and Fairies)
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

 I know i have posted this a couple of times, but after reading it, everyone should ready it and really shut up, stop complaining and whining and wait till the dust settles, Lavin has not let us down and I'm sure he will not.

Its easy to idly stand by on the sidelines commenting and complaining. This guy has looked death in the face and said not yet. Gotten up, kept pushing, moved forward striving for the best for the team. Have some faith!

In Lavin we trust! Great poem. Look forward to better days in future years. Right now though it tough watching the team get killed.

I agree with you!

He's survived cancer and while he might not be on the sidelines he's worked his @ss off trying to get players for us this year.

Regardless of what happens with the recruits we get this year there isn't a coach out there that I would rather have representing us. I hope he knows that

Agree totally. We as SJU fans put up with crappy teams for decades. This isn't one of them. When the guy is back on the sidelines, he will be competing for the top kids once again. Right now we need a few solid players for 2012 so we have enough depth to get it done next year, mainly in the post. Build one brick at a time. I too hope Lavs knows the fans appreciate and are pulling for him and know how tough it is behind he 8-ball. When the cancer recovery is behind him, hammer to rock once again. This isn't easy for the fans. It's a lot tougher for our head coach. Lavs wife Mary-Ann was quoted as saying this whole thing was "frustrating". I'm sure that's an understatement.

Tough times don't last.... Tough people do.
