lol It wouldn't be tough for me, no problem for me to go.
Talking about the ones living/working in NJ or LI.
So lol, why wouldn't you be able to make it?

Me, hell I might look for a SJU viewing place for Wednesday night.

If we do play Friday, can we please not say "they have it tough and will be tired"? Every other team seems to do fine in back to back games during tournaments. These are kids...when I was 21 I would be able to go out to bars until 3 AM and be fine by 9 AM. No excuse.

The issue is other teams succeeding in back to back games usually have deeper rosters and more competent bench players. Our lack of size can be taken advantage of and result in core players being in foul trouble. Once that happens, we have to rely on guys who frankly have provided zero offensive contributions recently. Teams seem to make runs when we have two bench guys out there together. So it is not just a question of energy, but our poor roster configuration, basically a flawed team with some core talent.

I am a one game at a time guy. Finishing so poorly, I would prefer to think we have a good shot at ASU & just assume the next one will be very tough considering the flaws noted and fact we have not succeeded much down stretch in back to back situations. The idea this squad can make a run seems foreign to me, but we’ll see.

According to this article, ASU already beat us as they are going to upset Buffalo. Not even a mention of our game against them. I hope our team sees this article.. F U![/quote]

Interesting because they have the scenario for either Belmont or Temple beating UMD

I work in Huntington until 4:30. I won’t be home until 5 with the traffic. I’m happy I’ll at least be be able to see the second half. If there was a place in Huntington or Babylon I’d pop in.

I was more thinking about the Manhattan happy hour crowd. Centrally located. Close to the trains. Haven’t you guys met up at Stout before?

I hope ESPN is counting us out. We need the chip on our shoulder and don't do well at all being favorites. We don't know how to be the hunted, only know how to hunt others with targets on their back.

ASU won't be an easy matchup for us. They play 8 guys and of those 8, 5 are 6'7" or taller, including one guy 6'10 and 225 and another 6'8 and 235. 4 are 6'8 or taller. We will need to take advantage of our team speed and energy which I expect to be there for sure. They finished winning 3 of their last 4, but did have some bad losses for sure. Glad to have the opportunity to win another game and give our guys a taste of the MM excitement.

Comparing players playing two ncaa games back to back to you getting trashed and not waking up hungover is.... something

The point is other teams do it with a short bench. It's been used as if it's this universal truth when it's really not. Does it make it tougher with short rest? Sure...but not impossible. We aren't the only team that isn't deep that has to play with short rest. Why even have tournaments on consecutive days or 1 day in between if it's impossible to play well? Can't take something that's exclusive to us and make it a universal truth IMO. We've also seen this team come off long rest and had rust. Either way it's not an excuse...you go out and play your arse off. You play for the front of the jersey not the back. These guys get treated like kings with ice baths, getting taped up, massages, TENS machines, high tech contraptions, etc. If we lose it won't be due to "being tired".

I agree with the general point you’re trying to make but using going out to bars to further your point kinda lost me.

Johnnies will be fine. I think a lot of times we mix up fatigue with just being outcoached, undersized and out of answers.

When things go wrong it’s so easy to point to fatigue but the reality is we are probably just getting outplayed

Well I used to play pick up games for 3 hours on Saturdays, then go to the bars until 3AM and then play pickup again Sunday for 3 hours, as did most of my friends. Tired at 21 with a day off in between for the chance of a lifetime. I don't buy it. Man up.

If after what has gone down this season, they need negative press to be up for this game, then there is a problem with the culture of the whole organization (IMO).

Very happy to see Temple in the field
Dunphy is an underrated coach and deserves kudos in his final season
Would love to see his team pull an upset or two in the tournament

Thank you...remember they get top notch treatment also. They get a full day in between and will be attended to constantly getting every contraption/machine possible to ease their muscles. They're in the prime of their life health wise. Acting like it's too much to ask for 5 guys to play 2 games with a full day in between to rest is too much is ridiculous IMO. It's an excuse. Just to be clear I'm pumped we're in at all. Very thankful...and we may very well lose immediately. But if we do, it's not from being tired. Man up...stop treating these guys like pansies. Hope our guys aren't up until 3 AM on Instagram live.

It must be just the way that data was grabbed for the article - for the most likely potential upsets.
We're listed in similar article, right below ASU, on the espn website.

This was a thread started to see if some folks wanted to get together Friday if the team was still playing. If you want to have a thread where you are telling people how they should feel if the team loses Friday, about how they should analyze a game that not only hasn't been played yet but might not ever be played maybe this isn't the right thread. Maybe start one called - Acceptable Reasons to Lose.

Some of us are happy the team is in the tournament and not worried about why they will lose. We are either sitting back and just watching or trying to figure out how we think they can win. Strange, I know.

Zaun, Jack Williams are you advising it might be a good idea for our guys to hang out in Bars until :3 AM and then play Ariz State ? Hmm, might be on to something .. our Team , as shown this year , needs to have all 5 of our Starters in Double figures at the same time and contributing in the other aspects of the game as well . This hasn’t happened too
Frequently but , has on occasion . We need 1 of those times on Wednesday and Friday . We can’t have Clark scoring 0 points or any body not getting 10 or more . He needs to go to the hoop if his shot isn’t there . A few times anyway . AZis going to dare Simon to shoot , from anywhere , 2 feet or 20 feet it doesn’t matter . We need him for Defense , Steals, Rebounds more than scoring . If he can make a few layups , always a concern with Justin , and drop some free throws , the 10 should not be a problem . Ponds ? Frankly , he needs to take over the game , like Powell , Booth , Howard do and we will be ok . Heron , if healthy , I am not worried about or Figgy either .
