Idea for SJU Ticket Promotion

Northeastern just today announced a ticket promotion targeted at Celtics season ticket holders. They're offering Celtics season ticket holders 50% off Northeastern season tickets. I think that this is a good opportunity for St. John's to do for Knicks season ticket holder. They could do a MSG only plan and give them 10-15% off the tickets.

What do you think the likelihood of St. John's adopting a ticket plan like this. The attendance has not been good over the last several years and is definitely rising with the recent success of the team, but I feel like this is a golden opportunity for the university to sell more tickets. Considering they increased the ticket prices 20% this year and I don't think they incurred many additional expenses (Carnesseca is still the same, maybe some more fees to MSG for the renovations) I feel like it would be an innovative way to get New Yorker's involved in SJU. I'm sick of seeing the advertisements that "Syracuse is New York's college team". This is a way for SJU to sell tickets to basketball fans.

After the renovation expenses, I'm sure SJU/MSG wouldn't offer 50% discount, but I think they could make 10-15% saving work. Even if it was just for certain seat sections. the publicity of the offer should help drive more ticket sales & revenue.

I like the idea. I just hope those Knicks fans are STJ fans and not fans of Cuse and the like.

Why not? After all, Syracuse is promoted as being "New York's college team"
I used to hate Georgetown the most
This promotion has changed my mind

I agree - after seeing these promotions, if Syracuse ever sees MSG - SJU and the BE should ban the Garden and play any games elsewhere - for instance Brooklyn. FU SU

Huh?

How about buy a season ticket package and hang out with Terry Bross and some of his ummm " friends " for a night

It's a great idea to try to attract NBA fans starved for basketball to the college game. For my money, all things being equal, I'd prefer to watch college over the NBA, because in college, nearly every regular season game has meaning, students generally bring passion into arenas, and long standing rivalries make for exciting games.

Having said that, I would say most that few if any Celts season tix holders would have thought to turn to Northeastern to get a basketball fix. In NYC, good (emphasis on good) SJU basketball is a para-professional sports, at a much lower price than the Knicks already.

Few Knicks fans would venture to Queens anyways, but maybe a promotion in the Garden would work on a game basis. As it was, despite the great season last year, I don't think we had anything close to a sellout, and the upper section was almost always empty.

When SU leaves the BE, There goes their Garden party. No more BE tourney appearances or regular season games vs us. I think this one may blow up in their faces...

Having been a season's ticket holder for the last 15 years and paying full price I say sk**w them. Let them suffer with no basketball. I supported this team when there were barely 5,000 fans in the seats. I would be insulted if they gave someone else who hasen't supported this team all these years, a discount. I'm not getting a discount. In a couple of years they'll be begging for tix to see New York's best basketball and none will be available. Let it play out.
