Great article. Mom definitely knows how the game is played. Hopefully she manages to keep all the parasites out of his life right up until college, but it's going to be tough.
 
I find it disturbing that there are rankings and AAU teams for 8 year olds.
 
9? Really? I hope the kid DOES continue to excel, but if not, good to know he has a mom who knows there's more to life than basketball. (I remember that the kids I knew at 9 who seemed like giants, basically stopped growing in 8th grade.)
