St. John's starter Ryan Hortsman was a fourth round pick (117th overall) in the MLB Draft. He was picked by the Seattle Mariners. He is listed as a Redshirt Freshman on the St. John's roster and as a sophmore in the draft. Not sure how he was eligible as if you are in a four year school you normally would need to be a Junior (or you could be a redshirt sophmore) unless it has something to do with his age.

Congratulations Ryan.

L. J. Mazzzilli was the pick before Ryan. Yes, he is the son of former Yankee and Met Lee Mazzilli.

The draft began yesterday, and ends tomorrow.

He had to repeat his senior year in HS because of academic reasons but he couldn't play a 5th year. SJU kept the schollie the entire time. Redshirted in 2012. His two years off make him a rare draft eligible freshman.
