Sometimes you just see the "it" factor. You could be blind and feel it. "Special" is written all over Posh.

Brook Jersey Redman and Big Red
Thank you!
I've posted before - Johnny Dawkins - I believe his commitment turned Duke around and saved Mike Krzyewski's job as Duke did not perform well in the latter's first few years.
We already have made great progress since April 2019 and I think Pinzon and Traore are fine talented pickups - and can play at the 4-5 star level that Posh and Julian are!
Forget ratings. Look what the kids are doing in the real world of the basketball court.
Go St. Johns!

(If I may for younger posters, I had a great day as a cadet late 1960s when visiting Army beat the Redmen at Alumni Hall - Bobby Knight coaching, Mike K at the point - what pleasant bus ride that was back to the beautiful West Point garrison (campus) and the rigors of cadet life.).

If that Army team was Coached by Bobby Knight , SJU was Coached by Lou ? Or , was it still Joe Lapchick ?  Army 's top player that year was Mike Stillman , I believe .

I was going to post that Nova is way overrated this year but it looks more like 7college bb teams in general are nowhere near  as talented as they usually are.  The blue bloods are all having terrible years for them and there appears to be a year absent of any great one and done players. So while Nova is nowhere near as good as some of their recent teams maybe they aren't overrated.

Maybe Covid has affected the play. Teams didn't have normal time for practice, no scrimmages, etc.

Practices/scrimmages do play a part, but I think one of the biggest reasons we're seeing traditional blue bloods/power houses struggle is because they no longer have their home court advantages without fans.  Talking heads for years have always claimed how some home arenas would be worth 10+ points, this year has proved them to be right.  When the visiting team doesn't have 20k+ people screaming at them whenever they touch the ball, it's an entirely different game.

Also, this year is about which teams are really teams and enjoy being around each other and are playing for one another.   These kids are basically in mini bubbles right now on campus, they are only allowed around the staff and their teammates, so they can pass covid testing.  So, now you have some 5-star kids that basically choose a school just to make the 1 year requirement so they can goto the NBA, and you've taken all the fame and glory of being a celebrity on campus and playing in front of large crowds away from them and stuck them in a bubble.  I can imagine some of those players are unhappy about this and simply don't want to be there, and certaintly don't want to be stuck just around their teammates and coaches, and that's affected their gameplay.  This happened to the Clippers in the the NBA Playoff Bubble, there was reports those guys didn't want to be there anymore, and it showed in their gameplay, they went from being the favorites to win it all to bounced in the Western Semi-finals.

Played with and against Schutsky many, many times in Jersey playgrounds; hardnosed and tough as they come, great player, great man.

Silliman

Remember Silliman well. His senior year was the first year my Dad bought season tickets to the St. John's games; continued that for about 6 years ending in either 70-71 or 71-72 year. I have great memories of those Johnny teams.

I was at that game.   I was maybe in grade school and my older brother took me.   It was my first time ever on campus.   We had a guard who went to Holy Cross HS who turned it over in the last minute, costing us a chance to tie or go ahead.     There were almost 2500 eventual career coaching wins on the floor that day.  Coach C, Bobby Knight, and Coach K.
