The headline in the Hartford Courant reads "Snubbed And Abandoned: The ACC Keeps Rejecting UConn While Big East Charter Members Flee To Other Conferences".

The reality is that Yukon failed in its attempt to first screw and abandon the basketball only members of the Big East. News reports indicate that Yukon has done everything but print bumper stickers and hire James Carville to run its campaign for membership in the ACC or Big Ten.

Long time readers of this site will recall how cocky Yukon fan "alexd" was when he posted on this site about how Yukon was set for future stardom because of the millions of taxpayer dollars it had spent to manufacture an irrelevant FBS football program.

I like Cronins quote. People dont care about the student athlete. Its about FB and money.

It really cracks me up. The bully wants to play victim all of a sudden when he doesn't get his way. UConn might be starting to realize that there's more to college sports than just money. Rivalries, traditions, and similar schools in similar geographical areas actually make it better. It's like a rich guy that thinks he can buy anything including love, loyalty, friends, etc. Not everything is about money to some people. If UConn really doesn't get into the ACC or Big Ten, then we will witness a long and drawn out death for their athletics program. Going from playing the big boys to Tulane, UCF, EC, SMU, etc. is a disaster. Let them be a shining example of what happens when you bully around smaller loyal schools due to greed. You may get left for dead.

below linked is a 2011 Hartford Courant story asking whether the massive amount of taxpayer money spent on UConn football has been worth it.

As similar question could be asked about the millions of taxpayer dollars which temple University has squandered on its failed attempt to manufacture a relevant FBS football program

I hope UCONN goes into a steep decline. Irritating reading those comments Geno made about the Catholic schools leaving . Did they expect us to be their playmates till they advanced to the big time in the ACC ?
Some of their fans want UCONN to join our new conference so they have teams to play and when they get an invite to the ACC they all wanna leave. Keep UCONN and all those other football teams out. And I hope UCONN falls apart big time !!!!!!!!!!!!

Why aren't you guys hating on Syracuse. They brought the ship down. Pitt was nothing more than a freeloader.
Everyone knew that eventually the music would stop and you had better have a chair otherwise you are toast.
Herbst started acting like a tramp selling her services. Calhoun probably saw this coming and removed himself.
Their is talk that Boehiem may not coach in ACC. Those coaches were not aboard with this garbage.

Well it's one step forward and two steps backward or is it the other way around. Well anyway it has to do with steps

( this was ment for Purely Tactical )

In plain simple english screw CONNU and Syracuse. They each deserve what they will get.
If we never play them and their low class fans again other than in tournaments it will be just fine with me.

OT, but have to defend Alexd. He's not even a uconn grad, just a long time fan that has the blue-hued glasses. Fwiw, Alex is a long time friend and family member(distant ;-) )and despite his hardcore uconn fanboi attitude, you'd love him if you met him. Nicest guy in the world. That said, I haven't seen him recently but he must be reeling with all that is going on at uconn lately.

I've always found alexd to be a positive, intelligent contributor to this board -- not a "cocky" UConn irritant -- with interesting insights that I've always enjoyed reading, whether I agreed with them or not.

I have to agree. He's been a contributor for years, and usually gave us the perspective of the UConn fan base in a non-negative tone. Sure, he could get a little defensive at times if attacked for being a UConn fan, but heck, look at all the success of his program he has to fall back on.

Nice - having lived 10 years in Avon CT I'm surprised with such an honest article in the Courant. Not too many tears shed on this site I see.

all the best and let's get going St. Johns.

Avon was in my neighborhood-West Hartford and Simsbury.
My kids went to NWC.

it’s all about FB and t.v. ratings which is all about betting on FB, that is why the ratings are high. That and there are games just once a week. Same formula in the NFL vs. MLB.

Tom I S:
I recall watching St. J versus UConn in the early 1990s with some local "diehard" UConn fans. Felipe Lopez & Zendon Hamilton were playing; St. J led all the way, game tied in closing seconds, I left disgusted - St. J came back to win.

I recall UConn being a lowly Yankee Conferene team until "they" poured big money into sports etc.

My son just accepted an offer to U Mass Amherst and that school apparently is trying to go bigger time e.g. they will play at Foxboro while their football stadium is augmented.

I like Lavin and the way our program is going - I expect no miracles, recruiting is the key and we are moving along in that department.

all the best to everyone out there!

Funny that someone mentioned Temple and their football team. I drive the NJ Turnpike extension every day, and they have set up huge billboards advertising Temple football. Thought it very strange that they were doing so, considering that I am taking about the heart of Rutgers country (or what passes for the heart)
