Happy Birthday Coach Steve Lavin

I actually liked Lavs. Just wish he wasn't as soft as he seemingly was or became after his illness. Wish he hadn't mailed it in. The guy had the charisma to bring in the country's best players, just not the work ethic for the long haul.

It's too bad because he took more shit than most coaches at multiple programs, yet never learned from it and never adapted. Happy birthday to the guy. Seems genuine but not with stamina for the long haul.

Hope he is enjoying it with some of his former Johnnie players.
Brown bagging dinner with coach Keady in the Christ the King gymnasium with waiter service provided by CTK head coach Joe Arbitello.

Lav helped us transition from the darkest days of the program to a better path. He made it possible for high-end recruits to put St. John's on their list again.

So, for that, thanks coach and happy birthday. Hope he's raising a glass of fine wine and enjoying his evening.

Happy birthday coach!
Some only remember you for your lack of technical coaching abilities, your offers to top nationally ranked players and your ability to lose those nationally ranked players early, your big fat contract and your Manhattan lifestyle.
Unfortunately you Cali guys seem to share similar traits but we'll remember that you also removed the stench of Norm Roberts, his losing records and gave St. John's 4 post season appearances.

Happy birthday Coach Lavin. And while we're at it, belated Happy birthdays to Coach Fraschilla(Aug 30th), Coach Roberts(July 21), and lets not forget the great Coach Jarvis(April 12th).

ESPN is reporting that Lavin only managed to blow out 47 of his candles and as a result has suspended D'Angelo Harrison for the remainder of the season.

According to Coach Lavs the guy who made his cake was the best baker since Jason Kapono.

According to my sources Lavs was unable to participate in the traditional Pin the Tail on the Donkey event due to being overwhelmed with grief over the recent death of Dick Gautier.

Coach Lav's squad was knocked out in the first round of the Musical Chairs competition but as he reminded his players, "there's more important things than sitting."

Since we're on the subject of Dicks, I always think of Dick Shawn and Dick Gautier in the same vein. Had Dick Shawn as a client back in the 80s. Hell of a nice guy. Dropped dead on stage while portraying a politician. I would have much preferred it was a real politician.

I know mjmaherjr will agree with me that Dick Shawn's greatest role was the Snow Miser.
