I'm about 40 minutes early but it's time to hit the hay
Happy 91st birthday Coach
You are truly a wonderful man and a great ambassador of our program and school
It's so great to see you continue to support the basketball team to this very day
I can only imagine how proud you are to see Chris Mullin serve as our head coach
Thanks for providing Redmen fans with so many fond memories through the years

Yes, happy birthday to coach and my father who share the same birth date. Coincidentally, both were dining in the same restaurant on Christmas eve and my sister took their picture together and Lou could not have been more friendly or gracious. My sister opened the flood gates as almost everybody else in the restaurant asked her to take their picture with Lou who did not turn down anyone. Funny thing is my father stayed by Lou's side and was in almost everyone's pictures and when the other patrons would ask who the other gentleman is she would tell them Oh that's just my father and they would say that's alright he can stay in the picture. My brother-in-law said my father liked the feeling of being younger than someone else (just turned 84).

Echo everything that's been said. My kid shares a birthday with Coach, and when I pointed it out to him in introducing her to him (at a major event mind you), he stopped as if the room was empty (it was filled with former players), and proceeded to engage her as if she was the only person in the room and as if she was the important person and not him.

He is a special person, and an absolute treasure. SJU might as well be renamed SJ-Lou, if only on this day in honor or him. He may have become renowned at the university because of basketball, but if you list the top 10 things that make SJU special, Coach C. is way up on that list.

Happy Birthday Coach. You are a great man, and wonderful coach and role model. You are a pillar in the creation of the Big East. You brighten the campus and are a legend in our time!
 
Happy Birthday Coach! You are an outstanding ambassador for St. Johns and deserve respect and many accolades. I hope for health and many more birthdays to come. I have always enjoyed the rare chances I have had to say hello and speak to you, where you were always a gentlemen and a class act.

Happy 100th birthday to Coaster. Good to see you navigate the Internet so well at your advanced age.
 
Happy Birthday, Coach. I always say Per Cent'Anni and in your case its not so far away. You were always a gentlemen and took time to speak with me on those occasions when we would bump into each other on campus, at the Garden and even at Nassau Country Club when you were a guest speaker there. You are truly a University treasure and not yet a feather duster.
