Coach Carnesecca will be 90 years old on Monday. Happy Birthday, Coach!

How incredibly formal it seems to call him Coach Carnesecca, because to us, he is beloved and familiar, and although we'd never address him that way, Looie seems right. On a weekend where we are lamenting the current state of affairs, we should all be thankful for how blessed the entire university has been by Coach C's association with the university, spanning 70 plus years!!!

I sure hope that the PA announcer acknowledges this, and Looie is serenaded with a chorus of Happy Birthday today vs. Butler, and again Tuesday vs. Villanova. A cake wouldn't be too much to ask, would it? Cannoli filling, please.

Thanks, Coach. You've been amazing, and still are and always will be a treasure.

Used to go to the local deli for lunch: roast beef hero, bag of cheese doodles, root beer-total cost-$1.35!

Happy birthday coach. Happens to be my fathers 83rd today. Never forget the time as a student I was on campus outside Marillac Hall (the real Marillac-sorry Marillac) talking with a group of friends and Louie went out of his way to walk over and give me a big greeting asking how I was doing and exchanging pleasantries for a few minutes. My dad actually ran into Lou at an airport and came home with his autograph for me.
 
Don't think I have ever met a nicer, classier person than Lou Carnesecca. Happy 90th Coach! Much respect.

I'll second that! Needless to say, Louie is in a class by himself -- not only the face of St. John's basketball, but, to millions across the country and in Europe as well, the face of the university itself. How lucky we are to have had him. Many more, Coach!
