BREAKING: George Washington has fired basketball coach Mike Lonergan, per person informed of situation.

Since the end of last season some former players complained of abusive behavior on Lonergan's part. I would think those issues are critical parts of the termination.
 
A sad situation for the team as the season is starting but the head coach is gone. Will probably affect their recruiting terribly for 2017. I know that Anthony Longpre a 6 9 forward from Montreal , who goes to high school in Maryland , and plays for Brookwood Elite like my son, has GW in his final group. I imagine this will take them out of the running ???
Too bad for all parties involved.

As what, the pizza delivery man? As a head coach had a terrible record at Manhatten and GW is a much better and higher level program. Maybe as an assistant.

When a slice gets cold you can reheat it only once. At St. John's the oven is the old coal type and it really charred the slice. Besides, the Foggy Bottom is too uppity for the blue grass collared Slice. ;)

"WAS" a higher level program until they fired a very good coach. We actually should swap contracts...Lonergan for Rohrssen.

If we were looking outside our current staff Mike Rice would be great on the bench and that is without the great group of high school / AAU kids he coaches.

I like your idea better! BTW, the GW firing right before the first practices, will cost them the season on top of coach Lonergan's salary. However unlike Rice, Lonergan only used words to intimidate and not basketballs. Note to Lonergan: never use the word gay to challenge or inspire your delicate homophobic athletes when your A.D. is "GAY".
Then again, GW actually had an AD. :whistle:

Maurice Joseph is a nice person. I recruited him for SJU when Norm was coach but they decided on Ricky Torres the local kid. Maurice went to Michigan State for two years and then transferred to Vermont where he finished his college career. He then joined coach Londergans staff at Vermont and then moved with him to GW. Don't see him as the head coach at this point in time.

The AD is not involved as he has been removed from overseeing the men's bb team due to an alleged affair with one of the players!! Can't make this stuff up! Makes us look normal!!!

I really hope that you are joking, this is unreal. The AD fires the coach for verbally abusing the players by using GAY slurs while he is having a relationship with one of the players, unbelievable. You are right, you can't make this chit up. The question now is, how is the AD still employed. There has to be a rule about Administrators having relationships with students.
