Goodman’s Best Coaching Hires of Last Decade

If Mullin decides, how about Fred Hoiberg as our next coaches?

Always has been. And he talks like he has a hanger in his mouth

If you read the end of the article it says "Next up, we’ll break down the 10 worst coaching hires of the last decade so stay tuned on Thursday." I forget when Norm was hired but if there is leeway on the "decade" perhaps we'll have 2 coaches on this list?

Maybe there is a lifetime achievement award?

I really hate these type of lists. So many hires, so many recruits, are crap shoots. It's like looking at the one year performance of fund managers. The best have crazy returns , but smart money invests in funds that have sustained success over a number of years.

Some programs are able to make multiple good hires. Some of those have unlimited funds and disregard shady backgrounds and practices. Others, like UCLA and SJU are in a perpetual state of dissatisfaction, despite reasonable efforts to win. I'm not sure of the answer. There are very few sure things, and those are out of reach financially.

Whoops, I remember thinking No. 1 was a good hire, and I may have even posted it somewhere here.

Is there an honorary or runner up list?

I remember when Lavin was canned, someone on here kept pushing for Orlando Antigua. Changed his profile pic to him and everything and said we were gonna regret letting him go to USF.[/quote]

I believe it was the poster Desco, if I'm not mistaken. I never could really understand his infatuation with Antigua. Oh, well!

Hard to overstate how good a hire Tony Bennett has been at Virginia. They are about to win their 4th ACC regular season title in 6 years, and the 5th time in 6 years they will finish 1st or 2nd in the ACC. With UNC and Duke and now Louisville and Syracuse and ND that is an extraordinary accomplishment. Virginia really hit the jackpot with that hire.

And if you need more evidence of how good a coach Tony Bennett is go look at what he did at Washington St and then look at what WSU has done since he left....
